GARDEN NEWS: The 2007 Perennial of the Year is Catmint 'Walker’s Low'
The Perennial Plant Association names Catmint Walker’s Low as the 2007 Perennial of the Year®. And I think you will agree that this stunning perennial is the cat’s meow in the garden. According to the Perennial Plant Association, “Catmint is the common name of this excellent sun exposure perennial. It has aromatic silver-green foliage and dark blue-purple flowers from late spring to frost, if it is pruned back by two-thirds when the initial flowers fade. ‘Walker’s Low’ is 36 inches tall with a spread of 30 to 36 inches. It is hardy from zones 3 to 8.” It looks great in perennial borders, or as a ground cover, in herb gardens or in containers. It is great for attracting bees and butterflies, but is deer and rabbit resistant. Learn more or purchase Catmint 'Walker’s Low' from Park Seed Co.

FEATURED GARDEN BLOGS
Gotta Garden
Katie, a self-described “plant enthusiast” in Viriginia celebrates all that gardening brings to her life. You will enjoy seeing what’s in bloom in her garden, as well as her conversations with herself on why she shouldn’t buy another new plant. Now there’s a conversation we can all relate to!
Michigan Gardening
Louise definitely has a knack for garden design. The photos of her 5 year old garden, which include over 250 varieties of daylilies, are absolutely stunning. This well-read green thumb and bookworm shares her hybridizing techniques, as well as an out of the ordinary list of non-gardening books.
Betsy’s Herb Garden
Betsy, who boldly lists her age as 250, loves growing herbs and perennials in her Grand Blanc, Michigan garden. As evidenced by the posts on her garden blog, she also has a passion for beautiful and flowery garden prose.
Doug Green’s Garden
Doug is an award-winning garden author who shares what’s new in plants, gardening news and anything else that interests him about gardening. I particularly like one of his recent posts, challenging and encouraging gardeners to participate in the United Nation’s “Billion Tree Campaign” by planting trees in their own yard.
