| Our name says it all. We are a specialty nursery whose mission is to provide fellow plant enthusiasts with unusual, new, and occasionally forgotten old varieties from the horticultural world. The backbone of our eleven acre gardenesque nursery is the myriad of rhododendrons that can be grown in our region. Hank Schannen, the proprietor of this endeavor, grows his personal collection of rhododendrons here, containing thousands of hybrids and species, making it one of the largest on the East Coast. We will also be bringing to market over the next few years, a growing number of interesting plants, both new and old, through our large network of fellow hybridizers and collectors. Rhododendrons, despite our passion for them, are far from being our only horticultural obsession. We are also collecting, propagating, and growing many other woody and a few herbaceous goodies that we enjoy. Hopefully they will interest you too. Plants native to various regions of the east coast will be heavily represented. Many are quite interesting, useful, well adapted to our climate and too often overlooked. Something difficult to overlook are plants with bold variegation and leaves of chartreuse and purple. We have some of these choice items to offer now and many more will surely follow as they are propagated. |

| We invite you to visit us in lovely Chester, N.J. We have 18,000 square feet of greenhouses for you to explore. During all four seasons, our garden benches are overflowing with gorgeous plants. Wander through the greenhouses and outside. Be sure to check on the progress of our new display gardens. Like your gardens at home, our garden is a work in progress. At Stony Hill Gardens, we offer a full-service floral shop, a wide selection of beautiful orchids, hibiscus and other tender perennials. In the spring and summer, you’ll find flowering bulbs, pansies, azaleas, geraniums, and a wide selection of other annuals and perennials. During the fall, you can enjoy a hayride and pick-your-own pumpkins, plus our stunning mums. For Christmas, our greenhouses are full of our fabulous poinsettias. People come from far and wide just for our poinsettias as well as our precut Christmas trees, wreaths and roping. And don’t forget your Boxwood Tree! |
