6. Western Colorado Botanical Gardens & Butterfly House
Up through the rubble along the south entrance to the city of Grand Junction, Colorado, on the banks of the Colorado River, a gem in the making is emerging. After the removal of thousands of used tires, junk car parts, and dead batteries, the 12.3 acres of land located at the dead end of South 7th Street has blossomed into a 4000 square foot green-house and butterfly house, with over 600 tropical plants; fly approximately 200 North American Native butterflies a day; boasts Ann's Garden, a mixed perennial and annual bed adorning the front walk into the greenhouse.
